Trinidad and Tobago has been elected in the position of one of three Vice Presidents to the Bureau of the Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol for the year 2022. The position will be held by Dr. Marissa Gowrie National Ozone Officer of Trinidad and Tobago.

This country has been very successful in its efforts thus far to phase out ozone depleting substances having phased out the imports of cholorofluorocarbons and halons since 2008 two years ahead of schedule. Methyl Bromide for non quaratine purposes was also phased out in 2015. Work is also ongoing to phase out hydrochlorofluorocarbons which began in 2013 and the phase down of hydrofluorocarbons will begin in 2024.

This latest appointment will further signal Trinidad and Tobago's commitment to work toward achieving the goals of the Montreal Protocol.
