Assistance to the Plant Quarantine Division in the Use of Fumigant

The National Ozone Unit (NOU) provided training and equipment to the Plant Quarantine Division on alternative Fumigant to Methyl Bromide (an ozone depleting substance) as well as information on best practices in the sector. Also presented was a quick tool on fumigants developed by the NOU to assist officers in decision making by having the necessary information summarized and easily available to them while on duty.

South South Ozone Discussions

South South discussions were in full swing with the National Ozone Officer from Grenada. Among issues elaborated were mechanisms to improve collaboration with regard to training of technicians in the RAC Sector and the facilitating of technology and knowledge transfer.

Regional Workshop on Kigali Amendment

Trinidad and Tobago welcomed regional ozone officers to learn more about the Kigali Amendment. Special thanks to the Government of New Zealand and UNDP for facilitating this capacity building activity. 

Refrigerant Drivers License Train the Trainer Workshop

The Refrigerant Drivers License Train the Trainer Workshop for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trainers hosted by international Air Conditioning and Refrigeration  trainer Gregory Jourdan commenced.

This workshop facilitated by the National Ozone Unit in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme and the United Nations Development Programme  is part of the implementation of the Montreal  Protocol in Trinidad and Tobago, and is particularly aimed at improving the technical capacity of our local trainers in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector.

The management of the refrigeration and air conditioning sector plays a major role in reducing ozone depleting substances in Trinidad and Tobago.

Energy Efficiency Training for Professionally Certified RAC Technicians

The National Ozone Unit continued its training of technicians that are professionally certified with a session focusing om energy efficiency.  Sessions will continue across Trinidad as well as in Tobago.

Ozone Awareness for Summer Camps

The National Ozone Unit has been engaging with vacation camps around Trinidad and Tobago to spread the message of ozone layer protection and skin protection.

Local Project Appraisal Committee. (LPAC) for the GEF 6 Project for Energy Efficiency in RAC

Work continues in preparation of implementation of the GEF 6 Project to address energy efficiency in the RAC sector through the convening of the Local Project Appraisal Committee.
