Combined Twelfth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (Part II) and Thirty-Third Meeting of the Parties

 

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago participated at the Virtual Combined twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (part II) and Thirty-Third Meeting of the Parties during the period October 23-29, 2021

The online segment took place from Saturday, 23 October 2021 to Friday, 29 October 2021. The final reports and budgets of the trust funds for the Vienna Convention and the Montreal Protocol were presented alongside a status update of the assessment panels. The issues relating to critical use exemptions, membership of Montreal Protocol bodies and funding for the next triennium were also addressed amongst other matters related to the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Vienna Convention and the Thirty-Fourth Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol. Discussions were held in contact groups on Gaps in Monitoring, Energy Efficiency and the Budget Committee.

Trinidad and Tobago was represented at the Combined twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (part II) and Thirty-Third Meeting of the Parties by the following delegation: Dr. Marissa Gowrie  (Head of Delegation) Deputy Environmental Manager/ National Ozone Officer and Mr. Jonathan Bolai Ozone Specialist Environmental Policy and Planning Division






Trinidad and Tobago was also elected to one of three Vice Presidency Posts to the Meeting of the Parties for 2022.

District Cooling Webinar

The GEF Energy Efficiency in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning hosted a Webinar on District Cooling. There was a large turnout with greater than 131 participants globally with representatives from both the public and private sector within Trinidad and Tobago. Strong interest by the private sector to partner with the project was generated, and the project team is exploring these partnerships.  Many technical and business-related questions came out of this session.

Virtual Capacity Building of Refrigerantion and Air Conditioning (RAC) Training Schools

In an effort to ensure that the RAC Training Institutions are kept up to date with the evolving technical information the National Ozone Unit in collaboration with UNDP hosted a 2 day virtual training session with an International RAC Expert . The information in this train the trainers session will be rolled out to the local sector subsequent to the session.

Webinar on Indoor Circuit Boards

We continue our virtual training sessions with a segment on Indoor Circuit Boards. 

Participants were give a practical demonstration of common power wiring of a circuit board. 

They were also given an explanation of room and coil sensors with practical demonstration

Equipment Distribution to Support RAC Training



The National Ozone Unit continued its support to the refrigeration and air conditioning sector through provision of equipment to Metal Industries Company- Institute of Technology (MIC-IT) support training of technicians. This support will also contribute to the implementation of the professional certification scheme for RAC technicians.
