The Forty-Fifth Meeting of the Open-ended Working Group of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and the Workshop on Strengthening Effective Implementation and Enforcement of the Montreal Protocol, Bangkok, Thailand July 2-7, 2023.

The Open Ended Working Group of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (OEWG) is an annual preparatory meeting of all signatory Parties to this International Convention for the Meeting of the Parties (MOP). The OEWG reviews all technical aspects of the Protocol, reviews the progress to date of the Protocol, and develops the Workplan for the upcoming year which is considered at the Meeting of Parties. The Forty-Fifth Meeting of the Open-ended Working Group of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and the Workshop on Strengthening Effective Implementation and Enforcement of the Montreal Protocol, Bangkok, Thailand July 2-7, 2023.

The Sessions focused on the following major issues:
          ·         Availability of alternatives to ODS and High Global Warming Potential (GWP) alternatives;

·         Implementation of the Kigali Amendment and its enabling activities;

·         Monitoring of trade in Hydrochlorofluorocarbons and substituting substances;

·         Funding for Phase down programmes for hydrofluorocarbons under the Kigali Amendment;

·         Enhancing Energy Efficiency in cooling equipment;

·         Destruction and disposal of unwanted ODS;

·         Illegal import of certain refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump products and equipment; and

·         Links between Climate Change and Ozone Depletion.

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago was represented at the Forty-Fifth Meeting of the Open-ended Working Group of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and the Workshop on Strengthening Effective Implementation and Enforcement of the Montreal Protocol by the following delegation:
